Review :
Syniad rhagorol oedd cyhoeddi cyfrol o farddoniaeth beirdd bro Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Dinbych a’r Cyffiniau yn 2013, a braf oedd i eisteddfodau Sir Gâr a Maldwyn fachu ar y syniad a chyhoeddi cyfrolau o waith beirdd eu broydd hwy. A nawr dyma’r bedwaredd gyfrol yn ymddangos, a hynny mewn da bryd ar gyfer Eisteddfod Môn 2017. A chyfrol gyfoethog yw hi hefyd, gyda dau ar bymtheg o feirdd yn cael eu cynrychioli yma (un ar ddeg o ddynion a chwech o wragedd). Cyn mynd ymlaen i sôn tipyn am y cynnwys, rhaid cyfeirio at glawr blaen lliwgar y gyfrol, clawr sy’n tynnu sylw ar unwaith. Darlun ydyw o flodau ar Ynys Llanddwyn, un o fannau enwocaf Môn yn sicr, ac ynys y cariadon. Gwaith Janet Bell yw’r llun, ac mae’n siŵr gen i ei fod yn dwyn atgofion melys i’r rhai hynny ohonom a gerddodd draw tuag at y goleudy a phrofi o swyn a rhin y lle. Mae’r gyfrol hon eto’n dilyn patrwm y cyfrolau blaenorol. I ddechrau cawn gyflwyniad i draddodiad barddol y fro, a hwnnw’r tro hwn wedi’i lunio gan Llion Pryderi Roberts. Ar ddiwedd y cyflwyniad cawn restr ddefnyddiol o ffynonellau y dyfynnwyd ohonynt. Cawn ein tywys drwy’r canrifoedd, o gyfnod beirdd fel Meilyr Brydydd hyd heddiw. Mae’r cyflwyniad yn un cryno, cynhwysfawr, ac yn nodi pa mor gyfoethog yw traddodiad barddol yr ynys, traddodiad sy’n cynnwys enwau cyfarwydd fel Gruffudd Gryg a Goronwy Owen, yn ogystal â rhai llai adnabyddus i ni heddiw megis Gronw Gyriog a Sefnyn. Cenid i destunau oesol megis serch, natur a chrefydd, yn ogystal â sôn am frwydrau, canu darogan a marwnadu. Sonnir am ddylanwad Cylch y Morrisiaid yn y ddeunawfed ganrif a’u gwaith yn hyrwyddo’r Gymraeg a’i llenyddiaeth. Mae yma hefyd le i’r Bardd Cocos yn y cyflwyniad! Yna down at y beirdd a’u gwaith. Ceir llun du a gwyn o bob bardd, ynghyd â bywgraffiad byr, a dilynir hyn gan ddetholiad o’i gerddi. Ac yn naturiol mae’r cerddi hynny’n amrywio’n fawr o ran cynnwys a mesur, gyda’r caeth a’r rhydd yn cael lle amlwg. Mae blas pridd Môn ar lawer iawn o’r cerddi ac mae gwahanol leoedd ar yr ynys yn cael sylw amlwg. Mae Llanddwyn a’i hud yn amlwg iawn yma, megis yng nghywyddau byrion Annes Glynn a Richard Parry Jones, ac mae cariad ac anwyldeb at fannau arbennig ar yr ynys yn glir iawn mewn cerddi fel ‘Lôn Bryn Engan’ a ‘Trwyn Dwrban’ gan Dewi Jones. Mannau poblogaidd eraill gan y beirdd yw Eglwys Sant Cwyfan a Mynydd Bodafon. Mae’r traddodiad o ganu cerddi coffa yn amlwg yn fyw iawn a cheir nifer o rai gwirioneddol dda yn y gyfrol, gan gynnwys ambell englyn cofiadwy, fel un Richard Parry Jones i ‘Bedwyr’. Cerddi a apeliodd ataf oedd cywydd Ieuan Parri i ‘Gwyn 1936–2016’, dau englyn Glyndwr Thomas i ‘Ifan Gruffydd (Y Gŵr o Baradwys)’ a cherdd Cen Williams, ‘Hau i Fedi – er cof am Carol’. Ceir ambell dinc ysgafn yma ac acw yn y gyfrol, ac mae ‘Ffrindiau Jên’ gan Geraint Jones yn siŵr o godi gwên. Go brin y caiff Machraeth unrhyw urddau brenhinol yn sgil ei englyn i’r ‘Tywysog Siarl’, sy’n cychwyn â’r cwestiwn, ‘Ble gebyst gest ti’th glustiau?’ Mae rhyw dristwch yng ngherdd Gwyn M. Lloyd i ‘Taid a’i Ŵyr’, lle mae’r ŵyr a fu’n treulio cymaint o amser yng nghwmni ei daid yn tyfu i fyny ac yn dod yn fwyfwy annibynnol ar y taid hwnnw. Ond mae llawer o ysgafnder gogleisiol yn y gerdd hefyd. Cyfrol ddeniadol i edrych arni, ac un amrywiol ei chynnwys, felly. Rhaid canmol y golygydd am ei lafur yn rhoi’r cyfan wrth ei gilydd a rhoi i ni gyfrol gyfoethog sy’n ychwanegiad teilwng at y cyfrolau eraill o waith beirdd bro’r eisteddfod.
