In recent years neuroscience has entered a new era by combining the different approaches of molecular biology, electrophysiology, morphology and in particular gene targeting together with animal behavioral analysis. This book looks at selected topics on gene targeting and related aspects. These include the mechanisms of hippocampal plasticity responsible for memory and learning, cerebellar function for motor coordination and learning, receptor mechanisms underlying a variety of brain functions and the regulatory mechanisms of transmitter release and developmental neuronal plasticity.
