Xiuli DuProf. Xiuli is currently the Vice President of the Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). After he obtained his PhD in May 1990 from the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration, Dr. Du worked in industry as a senior engieer until he joined BJUT in 2001, devoting decades to teaching and research in earthquake engineering. He has made outstanding contributions to structure-foundation-soil coupled earthquake resistance. His research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Innovation Research Group Project and Excellent Young Scientists Project. He was awarded the title of Beijing Strategic Scientist and Beijing Scholar. At the end of 2023, he was also elected as a member of the China Academy of Engineering in the Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Engineering Academic Division – the top academic title in the country, which represents the highest academic level and reputation in the engineering community.
