He has worked for the Guardian and the Black Cultural Archives. Symeon has reported on black cutures across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. His journalism has won a Medical Journalists' Association Award and a Criminal Justice Alliance Outstanding Journalism Award and been shortlisted for the Orwell Prize, a One World Media Award and a British Journalism Award; he was also nominated for a BAFTA as executive editor of Channel 4 News' Black to Front special. Symeon was also a commissioning executive in current affairs and specialist factual between 2022-2023, where he was part of the team that launched the Channel 4 youth documentary strand Untold.
