Stacey M KingStacey M. King is a businesswoman, author, and historian specializing in Banaban colonial history. Her connection to the Banaban people is deeply personal-her family was involved in phosphate mining on Banaba (Ocean Island) from 1900 to 1931.In 1989,she began researching her family's past for Nakaa's Awakening, the first book in her Land of Matang series. Since meeting the Banabans in 1992, she has worked extensively on aid projects for their communities, founding the Banaban Heritage Society in 1995 to preserve their history.Her advocacy includes coordinating television documentaries, publishing articles, and building a vast historical collection with Ken Raobeia Sigrah, a Banaban Clan historian.
