Rachael Dixeywas formerly a Professor of Health Promotion at Leeds Metropolitan University. She has a lifelong interest in the politics of health, and in Africa, having lived or worked in a number of African countries. She has a background in development and eduction. More recently she has worked on childhood obesity and health in prisons. She has also been involved in developing the public health workforce internationally. Until 2011 she led the Health Promotion group at Leeds Met, before concentrating more on writing, and developing the Institute of Health and Wellbeing at Leeds Met.
