Nick Hodgetts
Nick Hodgetts is a botanist specialising in bryophytes, which have enthused and enthralled him for the past 25 years. He spent many years working for county wildlife trusts and for the British statutory nature conservation agencies, but decided tobecome an independent consultant in 2001. Since then, survey work for Rare and Threatened Bryophytes of Ireland has been a major part of his life, with regular periods of fieldwork in Ireland and report writing.
He is co-author of both the British and European bryophyte Red Data Books, as well as the Mosses and Liverworts volume in the New Naturalist series. Bryophytes have also taken him on collecting trips and conferences to many parts of the world, especially Africa, and he has described a number of species new to scence. He now lives with his wife and family on the Isle of Skye and is working towards a bryophyte Flora of that beautiful island.
