Nathan VanekNathan Vanek was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1951. The son of a prominent Judge, he attended York University where he wrote for the university paper, the Excalibur, before working for Canadian Press/Broadcast News and eventually feature-writing for sveral local papers on Vancouver island, British Columbia. Vanek has spent the whole of his adult life as a Vippassana Buddhist monk and a yogi, studying with some of the great masters and teachers of the times, such as U.N. Goenka, Swami Shyam, Ruth Dennison, Baba Hari Das and others. He spent over twenty-five of those years in India, eventually becoming a teacher himself. He has taught eastern philosophies and meditation for over two decades mostly in Canada, mostly near or at his home in Wakefield, Quebec.
