Mohammad AkramDr. Mohammad Akram (b. 6 October, 1971) is an Associate Professor and the Deputy Coordinator of the UGC funded DRS - I programme at Department of Sociology, Aligarh Muslim University, India. He has completed two UGC funded research projects on Migran Construction Workers in western Uttar Pradesh and STDs among Tribal Population of Rajasthan and supervised several Ph.D. and M.Phil. candidates on variety of topics. He remained the National Convener of Research Committee 12 (Health, Population and Society) of Indian Sociological Society for four years. He has authored two books titled as Sociology of Health and Tribal Health and edited two volumes titled as Health Dynamics and Marginalized Communities and Maternal Health in India: Contemporary Issues and Challenges. He has presented research papers in several international and national conferences. He has more than thirty published research papers in peer reviewed journals and edited volumes. He is a member of International Sociological Association (ISA) and several other academic associations. He has seventeen years of teaching experience at post graduate and under graduate levels.
