Eric JorinkEric Jorink, PhD, studied History and Philosophy at the University of Groningen and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Prior to this, he was Andrew W. Mellon professor at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. He currently olds the Teylers Chair at the University of Leiden and works as a researcher at the Huygens Institute (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, KNAW). Jorink has published numerous books and articles including Reading the Book of Nature in the Dutch Golden Age, 1575-1715 (Brill, 2010); Art and Science in the Early Modern Low Countries (W-Books 2011); Newton and the Netherlands: How Sir Isaac Was Fashioned in the Dutch Republic (Leiden University Press 2012) and (together with Jan de Hond and Hans Mulder) Crawly Creatures: Little Creatures in Art and Science (exhibition catalogue Rijksmuseum Amsterdam 2022).
