David E. LaughlinDavid E. Laughlin is the ALCOA Professor of Physical Metallurgy Emeritus, in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering atCarnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. He obtained his BS in Metallurgical Engineering from Drexel University n 1969 and his PhDin Metallurgy and Materials Science from MIT in 1973. He has taught at CMU since 1974. He was the Principal Editor of Metallurgical andMaterials Transactions and has coedited eight books. His research has centered on the structure of materials as observed by electron microscopy, phase transformations, and magnetic materials.
