D.C. NaskarDr. D.C. Naskar is currently a Consultant at the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, New Delhi where he mentors early-career scientists and plans seismological studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Scince from Jadavpur University and an M.Sc. in Physics from Calcutta University. Dr. Naskar’s career began in July 1989 with the Geological Survey of India (GSI), where he served as Director (Geophysics) until his retirement in January 2021. Over his 32 years at GSI, he gained extensive experience in geophysical mapping, leading surveys across India in mineral exploration, groundwater studies, and environmental research. He also served as Chief Consultant (Geophysics) at DMT Pvt. Solutions Ltd. and worked in earlier roles with South Eastern Railway and the West Bengal State Electricity Board. Notable projects include a kimberlite exploration with De Beers and a GPS survey for the 2004 Indonesian earthquake’s impact in the Andaman-Nicobar Islands. Dr. Naskar has authored over 140 publications and received numerous awards, including the H.S. Pareek Award for his research on coal science.
