About the Book

Would you like to feel more comfortable talking to people about your faith as a Christian, to be better prepared to answer hard questions and defend what you believe? This book will build confidence in the validity and coherence of the Christian worldview and give you guidelines for dialoguing with skeptics. It includes a simple survey of important philosophers and some of the most significant arguments of Christian apologists, then offers suggestions for answering six of the most common questions:

1. How can you prove God exists?

2. How can you be sure the Bible is true?

3. What about other religions?

4. What about the theory of evolution?

5. How can a good God condemn people?

6. How could a good God allow evil?

Review :

Reviews of first edition:

"Richard Ramsay has given us a solid, reliable, and practical outlook on Christian apologetics. He goes directly to the central issues facing Christians as they share their faith with others in our day. I believe that God will use this book in the lives of many followers of Christ around the world."

Richard L. Pratt Jr., BA, MDiv, ThD

President and Founder

Third Millennium Ministries

"I am delighted to know there is an outstanding resource like The Certainty of the Faith available for those who not only want to understand the Christian faith better but to explain and defend it in the most effective way possible in every kind of situation. Moreover, the rich analysis of various apologists from Augustine to Chesterton to Lewis to Francis Schaeffer is very helpful. I wish this had been available years ago."

Luder G. Whitlock Jr., BA, MDiv, DMin, LittD, D

Executive Director

The Trinity Forum

Whether The Certainty of the Faith is read by pastors, professors, pupils, or parishioners, not only will it be a helpful apologetic and evangelistic resource, it also will enable spiritually serious believers to attain "to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself (Col. 2: 2)."

David K. Naugle, BA, ThM, ThD, PhD

Professor of Philosophy, Dallas Baptist University

Author of Worldview: The History of a Concept

"Balancing reason and mystery, Ramsay never settles for simple answers to the complex. However, what he does do is make the complex understandable. He correctly cajoles us to become first and foremost listeners and question-askers. And he asks great questions! This book made me think. It challenged both my mind and my faith, and enlarged both."

Frank Ivey, BA, MA

Regional Director, Young Life Florida

"His apologetic approach is clear, sensitive, adaptive, and bold. It is practically applied in detail and honesty to some of the toughest questions we face about our faith. Good discussion questions at the end of each chapter enhance individual and small group learning. I recommend this book as a terrific aid to our evangelistic endeavors on campus."

Chris Keidel, BA MDiv

Area Director

InterVarsity Metro Philadelphia/Delaware

"In my ministry, I work with young adults who often are struggling to articulate their faith and worldview in a culture that is increasingly post-Christian. Often they feel inadequate when their faith is challenged by professors and peers. The material presented by Ramsay is so accessible, so readable, and makes philosophy and theology enjoyable and understandable to the average reader. The Certainty of the Faith is a volume that I will buy (by the case lot) to give to these dedicated disciples who want to share the depth of their faith with this generation."

James Bjork, BA, MDiv

Area Director
