Winner of the International Impact Book Awards: Science Fiction/Fantasy - Military

"This provocative sci-fi thriller will engage and electrify your senses and needs to be read, enjoyed, pondered, and consumed immediately." -Matt Cost, award winning author of the Modern-Day Chronicles of Max Creed

Earth's futuristic civilization in 2278 is on a trajectory similar to its cursed past. Humanity has tough decisions and sacrifices to make before achieving true freedom. General Butch Sweeney is at the forefront of change, but the cost to save the planet may be too high. With the help of Utronian allies and his band of comrades, the Dog Pack, can Sweeney flip the balance of power back to the people and away from a corrupt, tyrannical leader? Why: Earth 2278 is a compelling sci-fi thriller that weaves in a story of love, friendship, and the human will to survive a world war of apocalyptic scale.

Later he served as Director of Facilities Management for a local housing authority for nineteen years. Now retired, he loves writing, cooking, clamming, biking, carpentry, gardening, golfing, fishing, hunting, and sitting down to read a good book. Review :

"I'd recommend this to readers who like military sci-fi that mixes chain-of-command politics with big combat stakes, plus a squad dynamic that leans on loyalty and gallows humor." -Thomas Anderson, editor in chief, Literary Titan

"A heart pounding sci-fi thriller with rich and immersive detail and excellent action." -Shannon Kirk, international best-selling author of Method 15/33 and Subatomic Love

"In Why: Earth 2278, Leo M. Hill crafts a high-octane military thriller that is as much about the bonds of brotherhood as it is about the future of humanity. Hill's detailed vision of 23rd century technology and the gripping moral dilemma of General Butch Sweeney make for a compelling read. A story of sacrifice, loyalty, and the relentless pursuit of freedom, this is a must-read for fans of epic science fiction." -Mitch Sturgeon, Award-winning author of ENJOYING THE RIDE: Two Generations of Tragedy and Triumph

"Leo Hill has written a remarkably entertaining book. His details of futuristic warfare, interspersed with friendship and love, is captivating and feels very real. Why: Earth 2278 is a great read!" -Peter Weiss, MD, author of Progeny

"A gripping, big-idea sci-fi thriller where love, loyalty, and sacrifice collide in a war-torn future, Why: Earth 2278 asks whether humanity can break its darkest cycles before the cost of freedom becomes extinction." -Joshua Fagan, author of Prior, eight-time award winning writer

"It's 250 years from now, yet man's unquenchable lust for power remains strong. Leo Hill's dystopian universe is chock full of bleeding-edge futuristic technology-and has some disturbing echoes of the present. Why: Earth 2278 contains enough warmth and flashes of humor to add balance to the heartbreak of war. An engaging read, Why leaves you yearning for the next book . . ." -Melanie Wold, former markets and technology journalist at S&P, Reuters & Dow Jones

"Leo M. Hill delivers an impressive debut that blends advanced technology, futuristic warfare, and deeply human stakes. I was pulled in by the well-developed characters, especially Butch Sweeney, Cappy, a mysterious and morally ambiguous protagonist who keeps you guessing until the end. Thoughtful, imaginative, and action-packed, this is the kind of sci-fi that sticks with you long after the final page-and makes the Dog Pack worth following." -Todd Hugie, author of House Down Dirt Lane

"With compelling characters, impeccable worldbuilding, and engaging action sequences that keep the pages turning, this is a highly recommended first in a trilogy that promises to delight readers and open their minds to better reflect on our place in the universe and future as a shared species-and the risks and choices we may make that could forever alter it." -Mark Sabbas, award-winning author of The Monarchs

"Why: Earth 2278 is a standout debut novel for Leo M. Hill. It is a must-read for fans of military science fiction who enjoy stories about friendship, the will to survive, and the fight for freedom against overwhelming odds." -Kelly Keevins, author of The Cavern
