About the Book

The Sherlock Holmes Seminars depicted in this book are not real - they never happened. The transcripts in this book are built around a single question:
What if they had actually occurred?
What follows is a portrait of a seminar series as it might have unfolded in the year 1900, had The Strand Magazine elected to honor the Holmes stories in precisely this fashion.

But while these seminars were a product of the author's imagination, they are based on fact. The British Museum's Meeting Room is real. In the year 1900, the public's grief over Sherlock Holmes - lost at Reichenbach Falls - still exists. Herbert Greenhough Smith was a genuine and accomplished figure, and the long standing literary editor of The Strand. Arthur Conan Doyle was very much alive in 1900, the man who had shaped Dr. Watson's raw notes and memories into the elegant narratives that captivated readers across the globe. And Dr. John H. Watson himself - retired army surgeon, London resident, and the tireless chronicler whose record-keeping gave these stories their existence - had by 1900 become as recognizable to the reading public as any living figure in England.

By 1900, only twenty-six Holmes stories had seen publication. These tales would come to be revered as The Canon - the definitive and authoritative body of Holmes literature. Although the seminars imagined in these pages never took place, they remain faithful to The Canon. Every detail and discussion that follows remains faithful to the facts as Dr. Watson recorded them and Conan Doyle presented them to the world.

Volume 2 includes the following Seminar Transcripts:

Silver Blaze
The Yellow Face
The Stock Brokers Clerk
The Gloria Scott
The Musgrave Ritual
The Reigate Puzzle
The Crooked Man
The Resident Patient
The Greek Interpreter
The Naval Treaty
The Final Problem
