He spent time as a Robert Wood JohnsonFoundation Health Policy Fellow in Washington, DC, and as a research doctor in the Nagoya City UniversityMedical School in Japan.He has served as chairman of a Food and Drug Administration advisorypanel and on an advisory panel to the National Institutes of Health.
