About the Book

The original edition of this revered and authorized Queen biography explored every aspect of the legendary group's career from inception to 1992. Newly revised and updated with cooperation and insight from Brian May and Roger Taylor--and drawing on exclusive interviews with the bandmembers--this book completes the story of the Mercury era and the immediate years after his death. With numerous extra photographs and a new Foreword from Brian May, Queen: As It Began: Revised and Authorized is an informative and authoritative portrait of Queen's most fundamental period.

About the Author :
Jacky Smith (née Gunn) has run the Guinness World Record-winning fan club and been part of the Queen team for forty years to date. Born in Oxford, she now lives and works from a home office in Surrey. Jim Jenkins has been a Queen fan since the beginning and is the go-to Queen expert. He has written sleeve notes for Greatest Hits albums as well as video sleeve notes, and has been involved in various Queen-released projects over the years. Brian May, CBE, PhD, FRAS is a founding member of Queen, a world-renowned guitarist, songwriter, producer, and performer, also a Doctor of Astrophysics, 3-D stereoscopic photographic authority, and a passionate advocate and campaigner for animal rights. Mike Cooper is a British voice artist based in the United States. Review :
A source of much pleasure to anyone who has an interest in the inside story of the making of that unusual phenomenon known as Queen. -- "Brian May, lead guitarist, Queen" Anyone who can remember where he or she was upon first hearing Bohemian Rhapsody will probably love this work. -- "Library Journal" If you care about the band's formation and early appearances or the arduous process of obtaining a recording contract...it's a fine resource. -- "Booklist"
