About the Book

This book features a collection of high-quality research papers presented at the 11th International Symposium on Applied Computing for Software and Smart systems (ACSS 2024), to be held during September 19–20, 2024, in Kolkata, India. The book presents innovative works by undergraduate, graduate students as well as Ph.D. scholars. The emphasis of the workshop is on software and smart systems and research outcomes on other relevant areas pertaining to advancement of computing.

About the Author :
Nabendu Chaki is Professor and Head of the Department Computer Science and Engineering, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Nature book series on Services and Business Process Reengineering. Besides editing about 40 conference proceedings with Springer, Dr. Chaki has authored 9 text and research books with CRC Press, Springer Nature, etc. He has published more than 250 Scopus indexed research articles in journals and international conferences with h-index of 17. Prof. Chaki has served as Visiting Professor in different places including US Naval Postgraduate School, California, and in different Universities in Italy and Poland. He had been Founder Chair of ACM Professional Chapter in Kolkata and served in that capacity for 3 years since January 2014. Agostino Cortesi, Ph.D., is Full Professor of computer science at Ca' Foscari University, Venice, Italy. He has extensive experience in the area of static analysis and software verification techniques. His main research interests concern programming languages theory, software engineering, and static analysis techniques, with particular emphasis on security applications. He serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the book series "Services and Business Process Reengineering" published by Springer Nature. He has been Adviser of several doctoral and postdoctoral students from Italy and abroad (e.g., India, Cuba, and then USA) and has published more than 200 papers in high-level international journals and proceedings of international conferences. According to Scopus, his h-index is 21, with more than 1.600 citations. Currently, he holds Chairs of "Software Engineering", "Program Analysis and Verification", "Computer Networks and Information Systems", and "Data Programming". Rituparna Chaki is Full Professor in the A K Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta, India, since June 2015. She joined academia as Faculty Member in the West Bengal University of Technology in 2005. Before that she has served under Government of India in maintaining industrial production database. Besides, she has served as Visiting Professor in the AGH University of Science & Technology, Cracow, Poland, since 2013 for consecutive years. Rituparna did her Ph.D. from Jadavpur University in 2002. She has been associated in organizing many conferences in India and abroad as Program Chair, OC Chair, or Member of Technical Program Committee. She has published more than 60 research papers in reputed journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. Her research interest is primarily in ad hoc networking and its security. She is Professional Member of IEEE and ACM. Rituparna had been Secretary for ACMW-India and is Chapter Chair for ACM Professional Chapter, Kolkata. Khalid Saeed is Full Professor of computer science at Bialystok University of Technology and Half-Time Visiting Professor at Universidad de La Costa, Barranquilla, Colombia. He was with Warsaw University of Technology in 2014-2019 and with AGH Krakow in 2008-2014. He received his B.Sc. degree from Baghdad University in 1976 and M.Sc. and Ph.D. (distinguished) degrees from Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland in 1978 and 1981, respectively. He received his D.Sc. degree (habilitation) in computer science from the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw in 2007. He was nominated by the President of Poland for the title of Professor in 2014. He supervised more than 15 Ph.D. and 160 M.Sc. theses. He gave more than 50 invited lectures and keynotes in different universities in Europe, China, India, South Korea, Serbia, Germany, Japan, and Canada, on biometric image processing and analysis.
