About the Book

Leadership begins in the architecture of the mind.

In this compelling follow-up to Staying H.I.R.E.d The Cultural Kingmaker's Guide to Building Work Oasis, the focus shifts from cultural leadership to the internal architecture of thought. Our professional and personal lives are often steered by subconscious biases that nudge us toward illogical, irrational, and divisive conclusions.

Through the essays in Of Flat Earth and Protein Mania, readers step into the labyrinth of the human psyche to examine the mental wiring that shapes how we see the world. Drawing on Hannah Arendt's insight that we discover ourselves most clearly in the mirror of community, the book presents a series of reflective essays centred on real-world incidents. Each essay becomes a shared exercise in self-inquiry: examining others' cognitive pitfalls while recognising the same tendencies within ourselves.

Whether you are a leader seeking better judgment or a professional striving to collaborate more creatively, this book offers a path to stronger metacognition-enabling clearer thinking, more thoughtful responses to complexity, and deeper professional relationships built on shared self-awareness.

About the Author :
Soh Sze Tiong is a writer, entrepreneur, and organisational thinker whose work examines how human judgment, bias, and culture quietly shape the way we lead and work together. He is the founder of 72 Smalldive, Singapore's pioneer slow-fashion label. He brings over two decades of strategy consulting experience, advising Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions across Europe and Asia, including Sony, GE Medical, Royal Bank of Scotland, and ANZ.He is the author of Staying H.I.R.E.d: The Cultural Kingmaker's Guide to Building Work Oasis, in which he explored ownership, followership, and the conditions needed for healthy organisational cultures. In Of Flat Earth and Protein Mania, Decoding Our Labyrinth of Biases, he turns his attention to the invisible architecture of thought-how cognitive shortcuts, emotional reactions, and social narratives can distort perception, complicate leadership, and shape collective outcomes.Sze Tiong believes that building effective cultures without understanding our inherent biases is a quixotic pursuit; that better leadership begins with metacognition, the ability to examine how we think before deciding how we act. Based between Singapore and Milan, he is a lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for nature, art, and films.
