About the Book

From once being of interest only to the aerospace and aeronautical ndustries, superplastic forming (SPF) has recently made inroads into the automotive, rail, architectural, sports, dental and entertainment sectors. However, due to a number of problematic technological issues ranging from die-material selection, die design, surface finish (e.g. alpha casing), differential thinning, temperature-pressure-time cycle determination and overall economy, the application of superplasticity has reached nowhere near its full potential. Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).

Table of Contents:
Preface Industrial Applications of Superplastic Forming: Trends and Prospects The Current State-of-the-Art and the Future in Airframe Manufacturing Using Superplastic Forming Technologies Generic Ceramic Tooling (GenCerT) for the SPF/DB Process The Design and Manufacture of Superplastic Forming/Diffusion Bonding Presses Superplastic Injection Forming of Magnesium Alloys Aerospace Part Production Using SP 700 Dental Implant Superstructures by Superplastic Forming Industrial Applications of Superplastic Forming Technology in China The Production of Automotive Body Panels in 5083 SPF Aluminium Alloy Industrial Applications of the Superplastic Explosive Forming Superplasticity in Metals and Ceramics The Role of Impurities in Superplastic Flow and Cavitation A Microstructural Study of the Effect of Particle Aging on Dynamic Continuous Recrystallization in Al-4Mg-0.3Sc Investigation of Superplastic Behaviour and Solid State Bonding of Zircaloy-4 Superplastic Behaviors of a Ti-Alloy with Ultrafine Grain Size Development of Superplastic AlCuAgMgZr Alloys for Easy Forming Superplastic Deformation Behavior of Undoped and Doped High-Purity 3Y-TZP Compressive Creep Studies on Alumina Particulate Reinforced Alumino-Silicate Glass Superplastic Characteristics in Germania Based Codoped Y-TZP Deformation Characteristics of a 3Y-TZP/20%Al2O3 Composite in Tensile Creep Superplastic Flow Stress in Cation-Doped YSZ Effective Diffusivity for Superplastic Flow in Magnesium Alloys Temperature and Strain-Rate Dependence of Elongation in Al - 4,5 Mg Alloy Effects of Temperature and Microstructure on the Superplasticity in Microduplex Pb-Sn Alloys Low Temperature Superplasticity in a Severely Rolled Sheet of an Al-4.2Mass%Mg Alloy Microstructural Evolution of Quasi-Single Phase Alloy during Superplastic Deformation Transformation Superplasticity of Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-4V/TiC Composites at High Stresses Superplastic Tensile Behavior of Silicon Nitride High Temperature Deformation of a Yttria-Stabilized Tetragonal Zirconia Cavity Formation and Growth in a Superplastic Alumina Containing Zirconia Particles Superplastic Deformation of a Duplex Stainless Steel Microstructural Evolution in Superplastic Coarse-Grained Fe-27at.%Al: Strain-Rate Effects Geometric Analysis of Thinning during Superplastic Forming Analysis of Superplastic Testing by Using Constant Pressure in Prismatic Die Effect of Hot Deformation under Complex Loading on the Transformation of Lamellar Type Microstructure in Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.6Zr-0.27Si Alloy High Temperature Load Relaxation Behavior of Superplastic Iron Aluminides Glide-Climb Based GBS Model Applied to Submicrocrystalline Superplasticity Role of Alloying Element in Superplastic Deformation of Aluminum Alloys Texture, Grain Boundaries and Deformation of Superplastic Aluminum Alloys A Thermodynamic Framework for the Superplastic Response of Materials An Augmented Rigid Plastic Flow Formulation in Support of Finite Element Modeling of Superplastic Forming Effects of the Temperature of Warm Rolling on the Superplastic Behaviour of AA5083 Aluminium Base Alloy Cooperative Processes in Superplastic Forming Under Different Deformation States Unified Constitutive Equation of CTE-Mismatch Superplasticity Based on Continuum Micromechanics A Coupled Thermo-Viscoplastic Formulation at Finite Strains for the Numerical Simulation of Superplastic Forming Mechanical Effects of Spatial Distributions of Large Grains in Superplastic Microstructures High Strain Rate Superplasticity in Mechanically Alloyed Nickel Aluminides Influence of Reversible Hydrogen Alloying on Formation of SMC Structure and Superplasticity of Titanium Alloys High Strain Rate Superplasticity in a Zn - 22% Al Alloy after Equal-Channel Angular Pressing High Strength and High Strain Rate Superplasticity in Magnesium Alloys Inhomogeneous Cavity Distribution of Superplastically Deformed AL 7475 Alloy The Development of a High Strain Rate Superplastic Al-Mg-Zr Alloy Recent Advances and Future Directions in Superplasticity High Strain Rate Superplastic Aluminium Alloys: The Way Forward?
