Victimes innocentes ou anges exterminateurs, ils annoncent la fin d'un monde _ le notre _ qui n'a que trop dure, et contemplent d'un oeil reveur les desordres du siecle. Pendant ce temps, loin, tres loin du Paradis, les hommes vaquent a leurs occupations, en general peu avouables: violeurs de petites filles, egorgeurs, camionneurs fous, epaves, maniaques en tous genres. Tout cela finira tres mal. Telles sont les images que nous propose Jean Vautrin, dans ces douze contes cruels qui composent, a leur maniere, un traite de survie a l'usage de toutes les generations. Jean Vautrin, alias Jean Herman, est ne en 1933 en Lorraine. Il est venu a Paris pour commencer une licence de lettres et il est finalement entre a l'IDHEC. Successivement lecteur a l'universite de Bombay, dessinateur humoristique et photographe, il devient l'assistant de Roberto Rossellini en Inde. Metteur en scene de television et de cinema, Jean Herman se tourne de plus en plus vers le travail de scenariste-dialoguiste (Flic ou voyou, Garde a vue, Rue barbare). Il a adapte et dialogue son dernier roman, Canicule, avec Lee Marvin, Miou-Miou, Jean Carmet et Victor Lanoux dans les roles principaux.

About the Author :
Jean Vautrin est ecrivain, realisateur de cinema, scenariste et dialoguiste. Diplome de l'IDHEC (Institut des hautes etudes cinematographiques), il devient l'assistant du cineaste Rossellini en Inde, puis il met en scene son premier long metrage, Le Dimanche de la vie (Prix Marylin Monroe). Suivent cinq longs metrages, dont, Adieu l'ami, avec Alain Delon et Charles Bronson. En 1989, Jean Vautrin publie Un grand pas vers le bon Dieu (Grasset, 1989), qui recoit le prix Goncourt. Il est recemment l'auteur, aux editions Fayard, de Groom (2006), Bloody Mary (2006) et Si on s'aimait ? (2005). Jean Vautrin est chevalier de la Legion d'honneur, officier des Arts et des Lettres et officier dans l'Ordre national du Merite. Jean Vautrin est egalement l'auteur, avec Dan Franck, des Aventures de Boro, reporter photographe La Dame de Berlin (1987), Le Temps des Cerises (1990), Les Noces de Guernica (1994), Mademoiselle Chat (1996), Boro s'en va-t-en guerre (2000), Cher Boro (2005), La Fete a Boro (2007), parus aux editions Fayard.
