L'Académie Universelle des Cultures que préside Elie Wiesel, prix Nobel de la Paix, organise chaque année un prestigieux Forum international: dans ce cadre, les membres de l'Académie et des experts de toutes disciplines ont réfléchi en 2003 sur le PARTAGE. Serait-ce une utopie de suggérer la vision morale d'un autre monde qui, en raison des turbulences qui le traversent, reste lié par sa démarche et uni dans son destin, autrement dit, par la nécessité absolue de partager à tous les niveaux ? s'interroge Elie Wiesel. Les intervenants ont exploré le sens profond ainsi que les dimensions et les applications du partage. Prenons par exemple la société démocratique où le devoir de partage constitue la base même de la vie commune, le domaine économique où la part du gâteau prise par chacun conditionne la taille de la part de tous les autres, le domaine culturel où le désir de partager inspire les créateurs, qui font de leur talent, de leur savoir, une offrande qui envahit toute la société. Ils nous ont aussi fait part de leur expérience. Parmi eux, Jacqueline de ROMILLY a évoqué la complexité du partage entre frères, Alain MINC et Christophe AGUITON: le partage des richesses, Jérôme BINDE: le partage des connaissances et du savoir, Umberto Eco et Franz-Olivier GIESBERT: le partage de l'accès à l'information, Bernard KOUCHNER: l'invention d'un système de santé universel, Junzo KAWADA: le partage de la mémoire collective, Jorge SEMPRUN: les mémoires récalcitrantes, Heinz WISMANN: deux mémoires: celle de l'Europe de l'Ouest et de l'Europe de l'Est, Michelle PERROT: le partage des sexes, Helena KENNEDY: le partage des cultures; enfin, autour d'une table ronde, Julia KRISTEVA, le Père Pierre CEYRAC, Furio COLOMBO, Pierre ZEMOR et Soeur EMMANUELLE ont évoqué le partage comme expérience humaine, expériences religieuses, usages ou traditions pour conclure: être humain signifie partager.
