Elie Wiesel

Elie Wiesel (30 de septiembre de 1928 - 2 de julio de 2016) fue un escritor rumano y superviviente de los campos de concentración nazis. Dedicó toda su vida a escribir y hablar sobre los horrores del Holocausto, cn la firme intención de evitar que una barbarie similar se repita en el mundo. A los 16 años fue capturado por los alemanes, al igual que los demás judíos de su pueblo. Tras perder a su familia en Auschwitz y Buchenwald, estudió en la Universidad de la Sorbona, en París, y trabajó en periódicos de Israel, Francia y Estados Unidos, donde se estableció en 1956. Autor de tres novelas sobre sus vivencias durante aquellos años de represión, recibió el Premio Nobel de la Paz en 1986.

Elie Wiesel (September 30, 1928 - July 2, 2016) was a Romanian writer and survivor of the Nazi concentration camps. He dedicated his life to writing and speaking about the horrors of the Holocaust, determined to prevent such atrocities from ever happening again. At age 16, he was captured by the Nazis along with the other Jews from his town. After mourning the loss of his family in Auschwitz and Buchenwald, he studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and later worked for newspapers in Israel, France, and the United States, where he settled in 1956. The author of three novels based on his experiences during those years of repression, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.
