Review :
Author-illustrator Robert Carr gives meaning to the power of images through his creation, "Pencil Talk". The common pencil as we know it, is repeated, contorted, transformed and animated often prompted by various nouns. The progression of illustrations suggests that of a dramatic stage performance. You will see unique characters, spotlights, stage curtains and shiny stage floors with reflections. Bravo! A must-see show! G.A.R. This book is a creative elaboration on a pencil. It reads much like a play that will tickle your imagination. If you value the creative process or not, it will leave you and your children with a smile. B.C. "Pencil Talk" celebrates the pleasure of thinking in inventive terms. In it, Bob Carr takes a yellow pencil with a pink eraser and generates lyrical verse that inspires multiple transformations using the image of the pencil. The book ends with the reinforcement that with a pencil there are many possible discoveries. How does he do it? My third-grade students are going to love this book. L.G. A rare, fun and inspirational picture book for children. The characters, whether a snail, a chateau, or a garden troll are all made from pencils. The embellishment is awesome. The book is keepsake due to its modeling of creativity. L.A.A.
