About the Book
It's a Story for the Ages... Boy does well. Boy teeters on midlife crisis. Boy moves to Florida, becomes a newspaper columnist and enlists the help of Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Brian Boitano, James Carville, Barbara Corcoran, Jack Hanna, Heloise, Magic Johnson, Shirley Jones, Sue Monk Kidd, Kathy Griffin, Hoda Kotb, Rob Marciano, Tyler Mathisen, Mary Matalin, Colin Mochrie, Suze Orman, Dr. David Perlmutter, Willard Scott, Vanessa Williams and almost 100 more to show him how to get his mojo back. Show Me is a result of over 50 years of research: 50-plus years of living a life, 10 years of journaling about that life, and four years as a columnist writing about people who, at one time, Jones assumed lived a better life than he did. In his battle against time, short attention spans and emotionally bereft modern technology, Jones wages an editorial war against pessimism by waving his journalistic flag in the promotion of creative thinking, positive communication, innovation, authenticity, respect and LAUGHTER. Now, with the help of his treasured gallery of informants-starting with the influencers from his days as a showy-yet-sensitive, bunny-fearing Mid-Missouri youngster to his exploration of modern-day success-family man, entrepreneur and humorist Randall Kenneth Jones hopes to SHOW YOU what all of these extraordinary people so graciously SHOWED HIM. Show Me showcases how to learn from your past, embrace your present, grow personally and professionally, laugh at yourself and banish mediocrity-by listening, learning and respecting the never-ending balance between ambition and tradition.
About the Author :
Show Me State native Randall Kenneth Jones is an entrepreneur, creative thinker, speaker and self-described "professional storyteller" with a long history of supporting the national retail, publishing and consumer products and services industries. His influencers include his filmmaker son Kevin, social-worker-turned-compassionate-accountant daughter Maribeth, and his wildly funny, edit-button-free husband Derek. Jones credits his beloved dog, former newspaper advice columnist Tony Wakefield-Jones, with helping him hone his editorial skills. Despite trumpeting the ability to listen as a key component of Show Me, Jones admits to still talking too much and has chosen to blame genetics. A modern-day Renaissance Man, Jones spends his days reading, writing, arithmetic-ing and rethinking his lifelong belief that overalls make a fashion statement.
Review :
"Having interviewed more than one hundred people--jacks of all trades--Randy has created a literary Dancing with the Stars. Wickedly funny, yet profoundly touching! SHOW ME is Shark Tank meets NASCAR meets Broadway meets The Partridge Family."-- (11/03/2016)
"In the personal/professional development book world, it sometimes seems like White Collar America gets most of the attention. If you have a pulse and a desire to succeed, SHOW ME shows you the way, regardless of the color of your collar. SHOW ME is a bit David Sedaris, a touch Dale Carnegie, a dash of Janet Evanovich and a whole lot of Randall Kenneth Jones."-- (11/03/2016)
"In SHOW ME, Randall Kenneth Jones explores the intersection of personal and professional development through the eyes of a highly diverse group of role models. Though he understands his personal areas of expertise, he wisely focuses equal time on discovering the whys and wherefores of those whose everyday lives are less familiar to him. The best part: he shows us why and how he did it. And we the readers are the benefactors."-- (11/03/2016)
"Randall Kenneth Jones explores and celebrates life in a way that makes Forrest Gump look like a recluse. In SHOW ME, this talented journalist shares his journey and quest for positive life lessons from a remarkable cast of fellow travelers."-- (11/03/2016)
"Randy is a superb interviewer/writer and much more. He weaves in personal and funny anecdotes...that have a meaning. Reading through this book, you will laugh, cry and take away a hint or two that will help you through life."-- (11/03/2016)
"SHOW ME should be retitled WHO'S WHO because Randall Kenneth Jones has everyone who's anyone in this book."----Jeffrey Hayzlett, prime-time TV and podcast host; chairman, C-Suite Network (11/03/2016)
"We have known Randy for over three decades. As a young man, he introduced himself to us as 'Prince Charming.' As an adult man, he has proven himself to be a 'Prince' among humans and an incredibly 'charming' one at that! He has written a joyous romp, a peek behind the curtain.... Bravo, dear friend!"-- (11/03/2016)
"Jones sneaks up on you. Though I couldn't imagine why a business writer would want to interview me, SHOW ME says it all. No, he doesn't know much about football, but Jones relates to my 'business'--and so many others--by exploring basic moral, ethical and human values. He focuses on what we all have in common, and not on our differences. The best part? I think I taught him how to throw a spiral."
