About the Book

When wealthy new student, Zeke, moves into the area, he threatens to steal away Michael's best friend, Kenny. Green with envy, Michael challenges Zeke to crazy, double-dog dares just to prove he's still top dog and Kenny's best bro. But when harmless dares escalate into bad jokes that hurt others, Michael has to work out how to make things right again. or if he even can. Author Tony Penn has expertly crafted this fourth volume of the Michael McMichaels series. This time Michael is again choosing inappropriate behaviour so he can win his friend back from a perceived rival. Using humour and twists, kids will laugh and learn while following Michael through the story.

About the Author :
A native New Yorker, Tony Penn teaches French at an arts high school in Manhattan. He is the author of the popular and humorous Michael McMichaels book series for early readers. Tony has also taught English and reading at the elementary and middle school levels. He has earned an MA in Education as well as an MFA in Creative Writing.

Review :
"Another enjoyable addition to THE MISADVENTURES OF MICHAEL MC MICHAELS. Again, Tony Penn delivers an incredibly amusing and interesting story about friendship, honesty and doing the right thing. Children will be entertained while learning some very important life lessons. Looking forward to the next Misadventure!" - Karen Anne, Amazon "The Double-Dog Dare is aimed at kids in grades 1-5. This one, while very fun and entertaining, subtly teaches kids about the dangers of jealousy and materialism. (Note: All books are standalone! No need to read the first three to enjoy the fourth!) The Double-Dog Dare follows Michael McMichaels, a third grader who always gets into some sort of adventure. When a wealthy new student, Zeke, moves into the neighborhood and threatens to steal away Michael's best friend, Kenny, Michael turns green with envy. He challenges Zeke to a series of increasingly crazy Double-Dog dares just to prove he's still Kenny's bestie. But when harmless dares escalate into bad jokes that hurt others, Michael must figure out how to make things right again...if that's even possible. All of the books in The Misadventures of Michael McMichaels series follow Michael as he braves a series of humorous misadventures while learning and maturing about an important topic in the lives of kids today. Penn, who has been an educator for two decades and taught every grade ages K-12, is passionate about being able to subtly teach kids these life lessons, all while giving them a fun, page-turning book to read." - Karen Puleski, blogger @ Practical Frugality "This is definitely a series you don't want to miss out on. "When wealthy new student Zeke moves into the neighborhood, he threatens to steal away Michael's best friend Kenny. Green with envy, Michael challenges Zeke to crazy double-dog dares just to prove he's still top dog and Kenny's best bro. But when harmless dares escalate into bad jokes that hurt others, Michael has to figure out how to make things right again... or if he even can." I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Funny and quarky, this delightful tale is full of child angst. It took me back to my childhood, remembering just how important your very best friend was, doing whatever possible to keep them your bestest friend. Michael makes mistakes, quite a few, as many children do, but he learns from them and tries with all he has to make things right. This is told in a way that grabs young readers attention, with things they go through everyday, the same feelings and thoughts. Showing our young minds it's ok to make a mistake or a bad choice, the important thing is to learn from it and be the best you, you can be. Parents of elementary school-aged children, I highly recommend this series, this book, to you and your kids. Something you guys can read together. It's got a great narrative. It's right up there with "Diaries of a Wimpy Kid" and "The Dork Diaries". - Erin Wise, blogger @ The Nerdy Girl Express
