About the Author :
Ron Pickering has published a number of very successful books covering the GCSE and A Level syllabus and has worked in both maintained and independent education for more than 20 years.

Review :
"Dr Pickering is an experienced and lucid author and his text closely correlates with the demands of the 11+ Common Entrance Science syllabus. He has included a focus on experimental design which will help lay the foundations for children to develop the practical and investigative skills required throughout secondary science education." Dr David Penter, Malvern College "Galore Park, the publisher of the excellent So You Really Want to Learn Latin, have come up with So You Really Want to Learn Science. Book 1, clearly laid out and attractively illustrated, covers "life and living processes", "materials and their properties" and "physical processes" in 25 lucid chapters, each of which ends with a series of exercises. Aimed at pupils working for the 11-plus Common Entrance exam, it has been endorsed by the Independent Schools Examinations Board and will be followed by Book 2, completing the 13-plus syllabus. For parents who cannot afford prep school fees, this is the next best thing." John Clare, The Daily Telegraph
