Review :
Dyma em o gyfrol a baratowyd ar gais Cymdeithas Lyfrau Ceredigion gan y Parchedig Robin Williams, un o’n cyfathrebwyr mwyaf effeithiol lle bynnag y’i gwelir, boed yn y pulpud, yn darlithio, yn darlledu ar y radio, yn cyflwyno Dechrau Canu, Dechrau Canmol ar y teledu, neu yn ysgrifennu homili neu ysgrif i’r papurau Cymraeg neu i un o’i amrywiol gyfrolau megis Basged y Saer (1969) neu Hoelion Wyth (1986). Nid oes cyfrol arall debyg i hon yn Gymraeg; y tebycaf efallai yw cyfrolau T. Glyn Thomas. Y mae’r patrwm yr un fath ar gyfer pob diwrnod: ar ben pob tudalen ceir adnod neu gymal o’r Beibl, ac yna sylwadau a dyfyniadau perthnasol o eiddo awduron amrywiol. Pan fo’n crwydro o’r patrwm hwnnw fe gawn ddyddiau llai gafaelgar. Dim ond tri diwrnod sydd felly allan o 365 ohonynt, sef Ionawr 10, Hydref 13 a Rhagfyr 23. Ac ar y diwrnodau hyn yr hyn a wnaeth ROGW, fel y’i gelwir ar lafar gwlad, oedd dyfynnu cerddi gafaelgar, ond heb gefndir na dehongliad iddynt. Camp fawr o’i eiddo yw costrelu ei ddiwinyddiaeth, ei athroniaeth, ei Gymreictod a’i Gristnogaeth ryddfrydig werinol i lenwi pob tudalen. A llwydda'n rhyfeddol, ond y mae ychydig ddyddiau heb eu llenwi'n llawn. Dim ond deg diwrnod y bu'n fyr o’n cyfoethogi’n llawn gan ei ddiwylliant eang a’i iaith liwgar, er bod y myfyrdodau ar gyfer y diwrnodau hyn yn werthfawr a chysurlawn. Nid oes man gwan trwy’r gyfrol swmpus o 374 o dudalennau. Camp fawr arall y gyfrol hon yw iddi gael ei gwisgo mewn arddull ddeniadol gyda chyffyrddiadau barddonol sy'n ein hatgoffa o weinidogion ymroddgar, lleygwyr duwiol, beirdd cynhyrfus ac emynwyr eneiniedig. Da yw clywed iaith unigryw y seicolegydd Gwilym O. Roberts, Pontllyfni a gwreiddioldeb Gwion Jones, Cefnddwysarn. Ef mewn arwyl yn Edeirnion a ddywedodd 'nad dyfodiad yr arch yw’r cyffro mwyaf ar aelwyd, ond dyfodiad y crud'. Clywn acenion yr efengylydd Tom Nefyn Williams a dywediadau'r cenhadon – J.W. Jones, Conwy; R.H. Williams, Chwilog; E. Tegla Davies; Tecwyn Evans; D. Idwal Jones; W.D.P. Davies – pregethwyr y bu Robin Williams yn rhannu pulpud â hwy yn nyddiau oes euraid Cyrddau Pregethu. Diolch am gyfle i ddod i nabod ambell gymeriad na wyddwn i ddim amdanynt, megis Stephen Davies, Prifathro Ysgol Llawrybetws, am Fawrth 2, un o’r myfyrdodau gorau o gannoedd tebyg. Cawn grwydro gydag ef ar hyd a lled Cymru, i wledydd sy’n gefndir i’r Testament Newydd, a derbyn weithiau atgofion am Eifionydd, a’i dad (saer coed Plas y Gwynfryn) a chymeriadau tebyg o gapel Moreia, Llanystymdwy o’i ddyddiau yn y Weinidogaeth ym Meirionnydd ac yn y profiadau a ddaeth iddo mewn aml i fangre gysegredig. Drachtiodd yn helaeth o emynyddiaeth Gymraeg a pharatôdd gyfrol a wnaiff bara fel cyfrwng ysbrydolrwydd Cymraeg Cristnogol am genedlaethau.
