About the Book

Since reading his poems in Nicaragua in 1989, Lewis has had a love of the Hispanic world. People there clearly recognise in him what Lorca identified as duende.  His work is influenced by Neruda, Claribel Alegriά and the magical realism of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but at the same time he is steeped in the rural Kent of his youth and the Medway Towns. He explores the ends of all worlds and in between lies the Britain of Blake, MR James, Elgar and Vaughan Williams.

About the Author :

Bill Lewis is a distinguished British poet, author, and visual artist, best known for his role as a founding member of the Medway Poets group. He began writing poetry in his youth and quickly established a reputation for his vivid imagery and thought-provoking themes, which often explore mythology, spirituality, and the human condition. Throughout his career, Lewis has published numerous poetry collections and contributed to several anthologies. Lewis was the first Writer-in-Residence at the Brighton International Festival. He was recently translated into Spanish and a Bilingual edition of his poetry, translated by Rafael Peńas Cruz, was published by Goat Star Books, this was launched with a reading tour of six cities in Spain. As an integral part of the Medway Poets, Lewis helped inspire the Stuckist art movement, which championed figurative painting and authentic self-expression. In addition to poetry, Bill Lewis has written short stories, further demonstrating his versatility as a writer. He continues to perform at readings and literary festivals, sharing his unique voice and fostering new talent within the creative community, for which he won the Literature Award at The Medway Culture and Design Awards, 2012.
