Review :

This book makes programming fun! This lively, fun book introduces new coders of all ages to simple programming in JavaScript. Jo Ann Smith is a great programming teacher, and the author of over a dozen college textbooks on a variety of programming topics. Her use of color makes it easy for new coders to visualize the basic logic of a programming language, allowing them to build their own programs step-by-step. You won't be disappointed!

Perfect for all ages! "ColorMyCode" clearly states what is needed to begin and what is contained in the book in addition to offering on line demonstration videos. No prior understanding of programming is required.

Major concepts and principles are presented in a way that is very clear, concise and, most importantly, understandable. The text is supported by sold, basic illustrations for visual as well as verbal learners.

The use of colors reinforces the meaning of coding terms and provides a strong visual guide. Important information is clearly identified and explained plus there are QR codes for mobile devices.

Graphics throughout the book are relevant, engaging, entertaining and incredibly useful to the learning process. They are also done as black line drawings which invites students to color them in too!

The engaging format, while teaching programming, provides a framework that fosters analytical and problem solving skills. It can stand alone for anyone interested in the subject and can also support what may be available academically.
I can remember when "new math" and various other educational concepts left many parents totally flummoxed with the children's school work. This book can be a welcome relief for parents as coding is being incorporated into schools. As a grandparent, I can attest that I was able to get through this book successfully and enjoyed the jokes along the journey!
