About the Book

This is a fast-paced, suspense thriller about a religious cult, the Covenant of Saints, which has embraced terrorism to take back America to the shining nation they believe God originally intended it to be. It interweaves the story with that of the family who found itself entangled in their tentacles and their attempts to stop them from implementing their new order for America. From his headquarters in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area of Idaho and over the course of fifteen years, Calvin Rood, self-declared Christ of the Second Coming, used conservative media and the web to gather followers. He sent tendrils of hope to the discouraged, privilege to the disenfranchised, validity and purpose to the wealthy, power to the politicians, and exclusivity to the devout. He amassed hundreds of thousands of followers, some of whom infiltrated vital components of the nation's massive military-industrial complex to acquire the highly enriched uranium necessary to bring America to its knees. They are ready. At Rood's headquarters in the Bitterroot Mountains, his 300 soldier-followers have completed the bombs that will stun the America government into immobility. They only have to retrieve the bombs and deliver them to the targets. They are ready. But nine years ago they made three mistakes. They abducted Laura Watkins, shot Senator Watkins, and made a powerful enemy of her brother, Sam Watkins. It was the worst day for the Watkins family, but it was the best day for freedom in America. Nine years after the kidnapping of Laura Watkins, the Covenant of Saints is under surveillance by the Department of Justice. A raid is planned by the FBI and ATF on their headquarters in the Bitterroot Mountains. Sam, now an FBI agent, just discovered that his sister is still alive and probably with the Covenant of Saints. He is refused permission to get his sister out before the raid. Fearing another Branch Davidian fiasco, Sam goes in unsanctioned. There he reluctantly relies on a local woman, Mickey Sheean, to get to the cult's compound unseen. Together they discover that the Covenant of Saints has the means to bring the American government to a full stop, and that they plan to implement their plans in a matter of hours. Now Sam must race against time to stop America's Armageddon. And the scary thing is, all of this can really happen.

About the Author :
M. C. Jackson (Christine) wrote her first story when she was fourteen years old. Being shy at the time, she never showed it to anyone. She continued to write short stories, but it was only for her personal enjoyment. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in geology from Louisiana State University, and worked thirty-six years as a geologist. She wrote technical reports and manuals as a scientist; however, she continued to write fiction at home. Christine, now retired, lives in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Drawing on experiences gained as a child, teen and adult from eighteen moves in eight states in the south and west, she knows that there are no stereotypes exclusive to certain regions. However, she noted nuances of placeinfluenced attitudes in people, and uses these to create rich characters. Christine travels domestically and abroad, scuba dives and kayaks with friends and family. She also rides her bike 35 miles each week.

Review :
reviewer's identity cannot be revealed.) For Ingram books "Shadow Saints, by M.C. Jackson, is a fictional book about a radical cult. The plot was very intriguing and built up the suspense throughout the story. The twists and turns grip the reader, making one anxious to uncover more details. The author chose an excellent setting for this story. This cult, hidden in the mountains of Idaho, was a perfect secluded area to conceal their activities from spying eyes. I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the mountain landscape. The pacing of the book was excellent. The dialogues were also very believable. The speeches delivered by the cult leader were especially captivating. One thing I particularly appreciated was the explanation of acronyms. Each time an acronym appeared, the author took care to explain its meaning. This helped with the reading flow and avoided confusion. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The captivating story line, the development of the characters and the plot kept me intrigued until the end." OnlineBookClub.org 5.0 out of 5 stars Great suspense novel Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. "Thoroughly enjoyed the story. The following are from Amazon.com 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Read. Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. "Really enjoyed this book. Good plot with strong characters. Thorough description of geology and environment made everything realistic. Would recommend this book to anyone." 5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and suspenseful Format: Paperback (Amazon). "Very interesting debut novel. It kept me guessing as to outcomes and who would survive, when I realized I was worried about some of the more minor characters. Pulling someone into the story like that isn't easy. The scenes set in the Bitterroot Mountains made me feel like I was there and conveyed the feeling of being far from the modern world and its conveniences. Character development was good, and elicited a mixture of anger and pity towards a certain character being blackmailed." 5.0 out of 5 stars Hooks you and keeps you guessing. Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase "I was immediately hooked into the story of Sam, his family, his quest to rescue his sister, and save the country as a bonus, of course. The story maintains a good pace and moves from the characters interpersonal relationships to the main story arc effortlessly. As a geologist myself, I appreciate the science and the beauty the author used to draw me to the Bitterroots. Shadow Saints created characters I want to meet again."
