About the Book

The objective of the textbook is to present basic concepts and fundamentals of computational methods as applied to heat transfer and mass transfer problems at an introductory level for undergraduates. Covering the three fundamental areas of transport phenomena: momentum, energy, and mass, the book contains enough material to cover in a one-semester course. Readers are expected to have taken a basic heat transfer course as a prerequisite. By building knowledge and understanding of the computational techniques involved, students will be able to approach real life problems by developing their own code and/or using commercial code. By exposing 3rd and 4th year undergraduate readers to mass transfer and coupled heat transfer problems using numerical methods, this book will help prepare them for the current demands in real industrial problems and the emergence of new technologies, such as high-energy laser technology, nanotechnology, and biotechnology.

Review :
""This extensive work... contains more than an adequate amount of information for two courses at this level. ...The classical principles and methods are presented in a clear and detailed manner, and the many examples are helpful in explaining the methods."." Choice, March 2006
