About the Book

For twenty-five years Denny Paul roamed from one place to the next, riding the rodeo circuit, drinking, carousing, and getting in trouble with the law. During these squandered years, Denny Paul was an alcoholic, not having a care in the world for himself, or for others. But, on March 17, 2012, his life changed. After being kicked multiple times in the head, severely injured, Denny should have died. Instead, in a coma for weeks, barely hanging onto life, Denny saw what so many have only dreamed of seeing. Denny Paul saw the light from the "other side." Floating from his hospital bed, Denny went to Heaven. In the Kingdom of his Maker, he realized the value of life. He saw his own life flashing before his eyes. He saw the path of devastation he'd left behind during his years of drinking and not caring. Coma Dreams is the true story about Denny's own destruction, lessons learned, and his miraculous recovery once he decided to live; that he wanted the opportunity to change his life, for the better. Now enjoying life to the fullest, Denny is glad to be alive. Today he lives for his family and friends-and for himself-sharing his own tribulations to help others still traveling a road of ruin. Coma Dreams is about one man's desires to change his way of life, making that change, and his survival. A story you won't soon forget.

About the Author :
Denny "Birdie" Paul was born in 1971. He didn't have much in the way of material things growing up, but he had the love of his family. So much love that his mother financed a pair of Nike shoes for him so he would fit in with other kids at school. At age twelve his father left them, leaving his mother to raise Denny and his older brother and sister. After his father's departure, Denny felt so much anger he turned to wrestling, fist fighting, and alcohol as a way to relieve some of the pain inside. Denny worshiped his grandfather, his idol, and learned most of what he knows from watching his grandfather, who ended up basically raising him. Living near a zoo for a while, Denny loved animals. Being around his grandfather, who was also a rancher for twenty years, Denny discovered he had a special talent. He could "talk" to horses! Traveling throughout the United States, he worked as a ranch hand and rode the rodeo circuit for nearly twenty-two years. Denny is known not only as a bareback and saddle bronc rider and bull rider, but also as a "horse whisperer." Always having a way with horses, he states, "It's letting them feel your heart so they know they can trust you." One of the last genuine cowboys, Denny loved the "cowboy" life, but in March 2012 his life changed, forever. Brutally beaten and left for dead, he remained in a coma for a month where he experienced "coma dreams." When he awoke, knowing his old lifestyle of fighting and drinking was no longer a life for him, he began writing his first book, Coma Dreams, an inspirational story of his visit to the other side while in the coma and his other struggles in life. Denny "Birdie" Paul enjoys his new life and sharing his experiences through his writing, and openly admits, "After being an alcoholic for twenty-five years, now in recovery, it wasn't easy to get where I am now, but the journey to get here was well worth it."
