About the Author :
Dr. Bill Rogers taught for many years before becoming an education consultant and author; he lectures widely on behaviour management, discipline, effective teaching, stress management and teacher welfare across the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Bill also works as a mentor-teacher, team-teaching in challenging schools. He is well aware of the challenges of teacher leadership in schools today. Bill read theology at Ridley College Melbourne University, then psychology and education also at Melbourne University. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Education, Honorary Life Fellow of All Saints and Trinity College, Leeds University and Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University Graduate School of Education. I cannot speak highly enough of Classroom Behaviour. All educators will identify with the situations Bill describes. He does not duck the realities in today’s schools and classrooms. He provides clear guidance for putting professional integrity and emotional literacy into practice from early, minimal intervention to responding to the most difficult student and the most challenging situation.

It is a fairly idiosyncratic approach which is liked by some trainees but not respected by others. Relevant to psychologists and also teachers. Clear summaries of up to date evidence This 4th edition continues to deliver practical advice on the topic that bothers most trainee teachers - that of behaviour management. Changes from the previous edition include more case studies and some updated text especially with regard to group dynamics. The additional access to online materials includes video clips, podcasts, extra reading, behaviour management tools and more. The only criticism that I have of this very readable and very useful text is that I′d like to see more evidence from recent research for behaviour management. on the reading list for 3 M level assignments and 2 undergraduate modules Some good case studies which can be adopted for FE courses Essential reading for HE students in their second year of a foundation degree. Clear links to practice to support classroom management and behaviour support for a range of children′s needs. All the necessary information you need to start your teaching career This text will be an essential text for my trainee teachers on the Diploma in Education and Training. It provides an extensive range of factors affecting behaviour in the classroom plus lots of tips and ideas in terms of finding solutions to key issues. The section on understanding our own behaviour, and the effects on our learners′ behaviour is of particular interest. This book simply gets better the more up-dates it goes through. This is a fabulous, accessible book written by someone who clearly understands what it is like to teach today′s learners. Behaviour management is a fundamental part of teaching Functional Skills effectively and Rogers′ hits the nail right on the head again. As ever superb, straightforward advice from Bill Rogers. Easy to read with stacks of concrete suggestions to take away and try. This book is written very clearly in simple terms with great guidance on how to handle almost any situation. I have found the advice easy to follow and use. I would thoroughly recommend this book for anyone working within teaching or with people in almost any situation. Excellent book for all begining teachers. A text which really connects the theoretical with the application. A must for any trainee teacher and a thought-provoking text for established teachers. A most engaging text which should be read by trainee and experienced teachers alike. Thought-provoking and user-friendly. This is a very good book for staff and I think it has some very wise ideas on how to handle just about any difficult classroom scenario. I will recommend it to my fellow teachers, but will not add it to our library as it is probably not that relevant for our students. Readable, practical. A useful, all round text, with case studies for illustration that make for good discussion topics. This is a good reference book for both the trainees and the NQT′s. It is an easy read that is peppered with Bill Rogers humour. I would recommend this as a book for advice on dealing with various behavioural and emotional issues of both the pupil and the teacher.
