About the Author :
Michael York is a successful screen and stage actor. Among his screen credits are Romeo and Juliet, Cabaret, The Three Musketeers, Logan's Run, and Austin Powers. His television work has garnered Emmy nominations and his audio recordings Grammy nominations, as well as five AudioFile Earphones Awards. He has been awarded Britain's OBE, France's Arts et Lettres, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Betty White (1922--2021) was an American actress, comedian, television host, and TV legend whose career spanned over seventy years. She has starred in many successful series, made numerous guest appearances on game and talk shows, and narrated the Tournament of Roses Parade for twenty years and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for ten. She received six Emmy awards and eighteen Emmy nominations. She was presented with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, two Viewers for Quality Television Awards, and three American Comedy Awards, including for Lifetime Achievement. She was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her best-known television roles include Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls. In January 2010, she appeared in an advertisement during the 2010 Super Bowl that won the top spot on the USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter. Due to a grassroots campaign on Facebook, she hosted Saturday Night Live in May 2010, making her at age eighty-eight the oldest person to host the show. She was also recognized for her affiliation with animal charities such as "Actors and Others for Animals" and the Morris Animal Foundation. Robby Benson, three-time Golden Globe nominee, is an American film and television actor, voice artist, television director, and educator. He first starred as Billy Joe McAllister in the film Ode to Bill Joe, and he costarred among others with Paul Newman in Harry and Son. In Disney's animated feature film Beauty and the Beast, he was the voice of Beast. His other voice work for animated features included the widely popular Prince Valiant cartoon series The Legend of Prince Valiant.

Review :

"'The Wild Swans' is an old classic. 'The Elf Who Saved Christmas' may be a new one. Old and new are freely mixed in this intriguing collection read by celebrities, albeit names that most kids won't know (except for the newly hot Betty White). As name actors, the narrators all have appealing voices, and sometimes a connection to the material. Sandy Duncan, for instance, played Peter Pan on Broadway and here reads 'Peter Pan, ' the collection's longest story. British actor Michael York is the only actor to read twice, and it's a joy to hear him handle both 'The Wild Swans' and 'The Elves and the Shoemaker.' The celeb/classics concept is continued on two more Classics of Childhood volumes."
