Fundamentals of Fluorescence Imaging

Fluorescence imaging, at macro, micro, and submicro scales, has revolutionized biological science in the past 30 years. Immunolabelling has provided precise targeting of molecules in fixed tissue, while fluorescent proteins have enabled localization in living tissues. Fluorescent indicators enable imaging of dynamic changes in cell metabolism. This book covers, for the first time, imaging at all scales from macro to submicro (superresolution). Guy Cox is honorary associate professor at the School of Medical Science and Australian Centre for Microscopy & Microanalysis, University of Sydney, Australia. He has been and is a member of several learned and professional societies, including the Australasian Society for Phycology and Aquatic Botany, Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society, Australian Speleological Federation, Phycological Society of America, USA, and Royal Microscopical Society, UK. Prof. Cox is also on the editorial board of Micron.
