The park is in a district to which it lends its name - see Sefton Park (district) - within the Liverpool City Council Ward of Mossley Hill, and roughly within the historic bounds of the large area of Toxteth Park. Neighbouring districts include modern-day Toxteth and also Aigburth, Mossley Hill, and St. Michael's Hamlet.
