About the Book
Poetry has many forms and even includes, the philosophical and theological overtones. Sufi have also, used poetry to express their own notions of faith and points of view about many subjects. Poetry like Sufism, is as old as organized religion and even, traces its roots to the very first notion of faith.Sufism like poetry uses symbolism including aspects of life or cycles of nature to express deeper meanings of life, faith, religion, culture, tradition, arts, sciences, architecture, music, folklore, mythology etc. Today, in the age of rapid explosion of available information, technologies and means of communication, poetry is ever more essential in getting different peoples of this very, very small planet together to see their world in a different and tolerable manner thereby, promoting peace and security; and harmonious interaction between all living species while also, promoting the idea of preserving all that is valuable from the past including, the environment, scriptures, religious texts, notions of faith, cultures, traditions, religions, art forms and expressions etc.Only via poetry, there is free expression of the human body, mind and the spirit without the unnecessary exposure to any harmful resistance from all those who beg to differ with all forms of poetry at any cost, and let not others share their minds and what the Almighty Lord endorses and expresses via all living Beings and continuous creation.Any open-minded person with a thirst to both learn and explore as to what may exist beyond the mere materially logical knowledge, sciences, technologies and sensual perceptions, may then let poetry take over his or her mind into different dimensions. While many poets may have solely focused on either their own love or on their beloved, Sufi poets focus more on the nature of the Almighty Lord as reflected through all the living beings, in nature and in the universe because the Almighty Lord otherwise, appears to be simply indescribable and unbelievable. The tasks of the Sufi poets therefore, are much, much more difficult in trying to relate the impossible and improbable, and yet, Sufi poets continue to exist and express their heartfelt notions about faith, religion, the Almighty Lord, and the changing dimensions or realities of the existence of everything else other than of the Almighty Lord who is also, manifest in everything. Only in this modern age of freedom can any poet fully express his or her mind without any fear of persecution, prosecution, harm or even the death penalty.Poetry also, therefore, proposes what may seem improbable, impossible and unrealistic within the world of the body, mind, spirit, soul, the universe and the Being as a whole. Because poetry proposes the use of symbolism to represent abstract concepts or what is outside material logic; knowledge; sciences; technologies; and sensual perceptions, literal meanings should not always be taken, and instead, greater thinking, contemplation and meditation should be cultivated to sometimes, grasp what is being proposed by the Sufi poet.
