Review :
I received a ARC from NetGalley of this book. There is not many books that keep me up reading all night but this one I could not put down it had my interest from the vey first page. This is the best i have read so far of this year. Looking forward the next book from Mr Perry. Shame I could not give more stars than five. Julie Banton The combination of action and suspense make a book a good read. Add in just the right measure of romance and emotion, fold in a bit of mystery and work becomes a really good read. It is no wonder why David Perry has a national best seller in his book Second Chance. An Alex Benedict novel this story is centered around a man's steadfast love for his dying wife and a suspenseful hunt for her potential cure. Just like me, once you pick this book up you won't put it back down until the very end - and even them you will be wishing there was more. Something sinister is happening in the dark of night at Tidewater's hospital. As patients begin to die from mysterious causes one pharmacist begins looking for answers. What he does not expect to find is a dangerous group pursuing the cure for cancer - a group ready and willing to kill to protect their interests. Alex Benedict is tasked by his colleague through a mysterious message after his colleagues suicide to find and protect what ever it is that this group is so desperate to get its hands on. Danger lurks in the shadows, following Alex and his group of friends as they search for this mysterious cure. Second Chanceis a quick novel. Set at a fast pace as the men fight to race death you will speed through, hanging on every last word. This is a great book to read during the holidays or on your next trip. National Best Sellers also make great gifts! If you have any book worms on your list this is a great way to make sure to get them something that they'll love! Maggie Franz What a thriller! I could not put this book down once I started reading. Very believable characters that the reader can relate to their own lives. The villians are numerous and sinister. The good guys are loveable and smart. Hopefully this is not the last we have heard of Alex Benedict. Cindy Musslewhite What if someone you loved was dying, and there was a way to make them well. What if you were left only days/hours with your loved one would you spend it with them or go in search of the potion to cure them. What if the potion had not only the ability to cure your loved one, but all the aliments in the world. There would be no sickness, no death, no need for hospitals or doctors. What if someone else wanted that potion just as much as you and were willing to kill for it. Second Chance is a beautifully spun tale of corruption, greed and intrigue. Set in a large private hospital, head pharmacist, Alex Benedict accidentally finds a saline bag with an unusual contents in the room where a patient died. Knowing it is unusual and may potentially have been the cause of the patients death, he delves into its origin and uncovers other deaths possibly tied to the same substance. When he reports his concerns he finds himself embroiled in a situation that is potentially life threatening for himself but may also save the life of his terminally ill wife. This book is well written and although somewhat predictable it holds your attention to the very end. I was given a copy to read for my honest review and I strongly suggest reading this book.
