About the Book

Can Joy ever escape from her past or will it always hold her prisoner, creating deep-rooted prejudices that blind her to the possibility of happiness in her future? She has pushed her secrets deep down inside her and is determined to be content with the present, but when she loses even that comfort of security she would rather die of a broken heart than face up to the bleakness of her life. And then...a friend gave her a gentle lecture and a book and she began to see her life in a whole new perspective. She is told that true happiness is when you learn to like yourself and she isn't sure that she can do that, but she is willing to try. Follow Joy on her breath-taking journey of self-discovery in search of that elusive happiness that comes from within, leading her into that dreaded world of fashion and celebrity. With its almost tactile, idyllic beach environment, this romantic novel is perfect for long hot summer days, relaxing by the beach, pool or even in the garden. It is also perfect for winter reading - to remember those long hot summer days. A beautiful, tactile, delicious read that raises money for charity - perfect!

About the Author :
Dawn was born in Wrexham, Wales and had an idyllic childhood just over the border in Cheshire. She lived and worked as a make-up artist and model in London and later moved to another border area, Banbury, Oxfordshire - famous for it's cross and a lady on a white horse - where several counties meet in the absolute middle of England. Dawn's daughter was born in Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds. Dawn's connection with the tragic story of Sophie is that when Sophie returned during her gap year to the wonderful private girls school near Banbury, where she had been a pupil, Dawn's daughter was four years old when Sophie, her teacher, died in a head on collision with a lorry, three days after she had passed her driving test - aged only 19 - on her short journey through the country lanes to the school. Dame Judi Dench became Patron of the youth theatre charity that Sophie had already created and Dawn is keen to sell as many books as possible to raise money for this charity. There is an inevitable and emotive comparison in the novel between the lives of Sophie, aged 9 to19 and the leading female character aged 10 to 21. When Dawn and her daughter left the world of London celebrities for a quiet life in Norfolk, they lived in a caravan beside the beach on the wild and wonderful Norfolk coast, which gave Dawn inspiration for her novel - a reversal of her life. Her characters leave Norfolk to experience the world of fashion and celebrity in London. Dawn and Sacha were thrilled to follow in the footsteps of the fictional characters as special guests at Amanda Wakeley's show during London Fashion Week. Both Cheshire girls, Dawn and Amanda became friends as teenagers and both have family roots still firmly set in the county. Best-selling author Katie Flynn, who lives just over the border in Wales, also became a close friend of the teenage Dawn and was her inspiration and writing mentor. Dawn has now returned to her home area and her family live on both sides of the River Dee.

Review :
"What better literary offering for the month of hearts and flowers than this. Even the name of the author, Dawn Rose, has a romantic ring to it... the language doesn't descend into the trite, and sentences are kept short to add pace to the action. EASTERN DAILY PRESS MAGAZINE, NORFOLK This story can be enjoyed by any female from teenagers to world-weary adults, who find it quite charming. There is something of the Secret Garden about it. It is a fairytale, a modern one but a fairytale nontheless CHERRY LARGE - SOPHIE'S MUM - SOPHIE'S SILVER LINING FUND Set on the hauntingly beautiful coast of Norfolk, this book is for those wine and chocolate moments. It is a chance not only to enjoy a quality slice of good old fashioned romance but also to take a look inside ourselves and rekindle those secret and personal wishes we thought had died long ago. IAN JOHNSON, CHESTER CHRONICLE I really enjoyed the lightness of touch, the weaving of imagination and dream with the reality of the Norfolk of my own earlier years. I was intrigued to be there with the characters as they discovered the meaning of integrity and heartache, sophistication and maturity - in fact, I couldn't put the book down. CANON PHILIP LEONARD-JOHNSON "...full of self-discovery... well written." STAR MAGAZINE"
