About the Author :
Prof. Ir. Dr. Hj. Kamarul Arifin Ahmad is currently a Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He holds a Bachelor's degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia, an MSc in Aerodynamics (Aerospace Dynamics) from Cranfield University, and a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast. In 2015, he obtained his Professional Engineer (PE) status from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Between 2016 and 2018, Prof. Kamarul was seconded to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. He is a former Head of the Aerospace Malaysia Research Centre (AMRC), as well as the former Head of the Aerospace Engineering Department at UPM. Prof. Kamarul has over two decades of teaching experience in Aerospace Engineering, having taught at institutions including Queen’s University Belfast, USM, UPM, and KSU in Saudi Arabia. He has served as an External Assessor for UTHM, UTM, and UPNM. His research has secured more than RM 2.5 million in grants, and he has authored or co-authored over 250 journal and conference papers. He currently serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals, including the ASEAN Engineering Journal, Aircraft and Spacecraft Journal, CFD Letters, and King Saud University – Engineering Sciences. Prof. Kamarul has successfully supervised 20 PhD candidates. He is the co-founder and co-chairman of the International Conference on Computational Methods in Engineering and Health Sciences (ICCMEH), an annual event jointly organized by UPM, Manipal University (India), and the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan). As an innovator, he has developed more than five invention products, including three patents, with one innovation successfully commercialized. He is also the founder of a UPM spin-off company. From 2022 to March 31, 2024, he served as the Director of Putra Science Park (UPM’s Intellectual Property Office), where he actively promoted UPM’s intellectual properties to industries and communities. In 2025, he successfully led and completed a national-level working committee responsible for developing the 10-Year Blueprint for Higher Education in Malaysia, a strategic framework that aims to transform and future-proof the country's higher education system. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jawaid is currently working as Distinguished Professor at Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department, United Arab Emirates University, UAE. He has more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and industries. His area of research interests includes hybrid composites, lignocellulosic reinforced/filled polymer composites, advance materials: graphene/nanoclay/fire retardant, modification and treatment of lignocellulosic fibers and solid wood, biopolymers and biopolymers for packaging applications, nanocomposites and nanocellulose fibers, and polymer blends. So far, he has published 100 books, more than 100 book chapters, more than 500 peer-reviewed international journal papers, and several published review papers under top 25 hot articles in science direct during 2013–2020. He also obtained 6 Patents and 6 Copyrights/Industrial design. H-index and citation in Scopus are 101 and 43525 and in Google scholar, and H-index and citation are 120 and 58132. 40 Ph.D. and 17 Master’s students graduated under his supervision in 2014–2024 in the fields of hybrid composites, green composites, nanocomposites, natural fiber-reinforced composites, nanocellulose, etc. He secured various research grants at university, national, and international levels on polymer composites of around USD 3 Million. He also delivered plenary and invited talks in international conferences related to composites in India, Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand, United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, China, Germany, Indonesia, Spain, UAE, Portagal, etc. Besides that, he is also a member of technical committees of several national and international conferences on composites and material science. He is founding Series Editor of Springer Three Book Series. He worked as guest editor of special issues of Several Peer reviewed Journals. Besides that, he is also reviewer of several high-impact international peer-reviewed journals of Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Saga, ACS, RSC, Frontiers, etc. Dr. Mohammad Jawaid also received Several Award at National and International Level. He is also Winner of Newton-Ungku Omar Coordination Fund: UK-Malaysia Research and Innovation Bridges Competition 2015. He is also Professional membership of ACS, SPE, APA, MySET, etc. He is Fellow and Chartered Scientist of The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3), UK. He is also Clarivate 1% Highly cited Researcher-2023. Dr. Balbir Singh is a distinguished figure in the realm of Aerospace Engineering, serving as a senior assistant professor at the Department of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal. With a wealth of experience and expertise, Dr. Singh plays a pivotal role as the coordinator and lead researcher at MAHE's prestigious Centre for Aerospace Science and Technology (CAST). Dr. Singh holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia, a prominent research university ranked 148 globally by QS World University Rankings. He holds two master’s degrees, one from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the other from Manipal University. He is an astroprenuer, founder and board member of BR Aerospace Solutions and Services (BRASS Inc), Canada. He also served as Vice president (Operations and R&D), Aryavarta Space Organization, Gujarat till 2018. He is a member of esteemed bodies such as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Institute of Physics, London, COSPAR, SGAC and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), London. Within the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) in Paris, Dr. Singh contributes his expertise to critical committees on Space Debris and Traffic Management, as well as Small Satellites. Recognized for his exemplary contributions, Dr. Singh's influence extends to national initiatives. He has been appointed as an expert member of the National Committee on Adoption of Space Technology Courses (NC-STC) by IN-SPACe, Department of Space, Government of India and Secretary, SAE (India) Coastal Karnataka Division. Dr. Singh's prolific research output speaks volumes about his dedication to advancing aerospace science. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed papers, holds three patents, five copyrights, and has published two books. His research endeavors have been further supported by numerous grants from both national and international bodies, cementing his status as a leading researcher in the field. His research interest includes bio-inspired robotics, space debris and space traffic management, AI/ML, HPC and quantum computing applications, small satellites, space sustainability, circular space economy, biomaterials and turbulence.
