About the Book

Properties and Characterization of Nanocellulose and Nanocellulose-Based Composites delves into the intrinsic properties of nanocellulose and the resulting characteristics of nanocellulose-based composites. It covers mechanical, thermal, optical, and barrier properties, and discusses various characterization techniques. This book is part of a three-volume set that consolidates current knowledge, spanning processing, properties, and applications. Each volume focuses on a different aspect of nanocellulose research, offering comprehensive insights and methodologies. This volume serves as an essential reference for understanding structure-property relationships and the impact of processing on final properties. Researchers will gain valuable knowledge for tailoring nanocellulose-based composites by fine-tuning their properties through manipulation of parameters and processing conditions.

Table of Contents:
1. Morphological Characterization of Nanocellulose and Nanocellulose-based Composites 2. Physicochemical Characterization of Nanocellulose: Composite, Morphology and Crystallinity 3. About the Author :
Dr. Mohammad Jawaid is currently affiliated with the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at United Arab Emirates University. Previously he was a senior fellow (professor) in the Laboratory of Biocomposites Technology at the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is an eminent scientist with more than twenty years of teaching, and research experience in composite materials. His research interests include hybrid reinforced/filled polymer composites, and advanced materials such as graphene/ nanoclay/fire retardant, lignocellulosic reinforced/filled polymer composites, and the modification and treatment of lignocellulosic fibres and solid wood, and nanocomposites and nanocellulose fibres. Dr. Ramzi Khiari is a senior lecturer in the Department of Textile Engineering at the Higher Institute of Technological Studies in Ksar-Hellal (Monastir, Tunisia). He graduated with a master’s degree in Textile Engineering from the National Engineering School of Monastir, in 2007 and then went on to complete his Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of Monastir and Grenoble INP in France. In 2017, he was awarded the diploma of "Habilitation Universitaire" from the University of Monastir, and then in 2020 he received the diploma "Habilitation à diriger des Recherches" from Grenoble INP. His research interests focus on the valorization of biomass at multi-scale levels, namely: fibers, nanocellulose, lignin, hemicelluloses, and their use as potential raw materials in several industrial applications (Textile, papermaking, polymeric materials, composites, and nanocomposites). He is currently an aerospace researcher in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has good number of publications and research grants in his favour. His research focus on insect inspired miniaturized robots for planetary studies, advanced aerospace materials (bio, natural or Nano) at all the scales, CFD, high performance computing and modelling, unsteady aerodynamics, space debris removal and space systems engineering.
