About the Author :
Roman Kikta is Director, Strategy and Business Creation, Nokia Ventures Organization/ Nokia Corporation. He is a seasoned wireless communications industry veteran, innovator, and visionary. During his 17 years in wireless communications, he has held product planning and development, marketing, and market/ business development positions with leading wireless manufacturers including Nokia Mobile Phones, Panasonic, GoldStar, and OKI Telecom. Mr. Kikta has influenced several cellular mobile, transportable and portable phone model designs, features, and functionality. His efforts have resulted in the first cellular payphone, first cellular PBX adjunct ("BusinessLink"), voice recognition dialers, as well as the first PCS product launch in the United States. Mr. Kikta possesses exceptional insight, foresight, and understanding of global market needs, from anthropological, sociological, and psychological perspectives. He is cognizant of opportunities provided by existing and future wireless and broadband communications, Internet, and related technologies and businesses. Mr. Kikta, a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, is a co-author of the books CDMA IS-95 for Cellular and PCS: Technology, Economics & Services; Delivering xDSL; and 3G Cellular and PCS Demystified. He has also written several articles published in industry magazines and has served as a guest speaker on various wireless communications and Internet issues both in the United States and internationally. Roman was made "Fellow" by the Radio Club of America in Nov. 2000. This honor is bestowed on those who have distinguished themselves in the communication industry. Al Fisher is a Product Marketing Engineer for the Anritsu Company based in the company's North American Headquarters in Richardson, Texas. He has over 16 years experience in the cellular industry, including engineering, product development, and product management while working for manufacturers such as Oki telecom and Uniden. Mr. Fisher has presented many technical seminars on new products and technology in the United States and abroad and has published many trade magazine articles. He serves on numerous TIA Cellular Standards Committees and is a member of IEEE. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University.
