About the Author :
Christian L. Hackman from Hockessin, DE, is a Certified Environmental Specialist with 15 years of professional experience. E. ELLSWORTH HACKMAN III, Ph.D., P.E. has been President of NST/Engineers, Inc. since 1973. NST/Engineers is a Delaware firm engaged in safety, environmental, chemical, and quality engineering and training. Dr. Hackman is a licensed Professional Engineer in Delaware and Pennsylvania, and certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. He has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry (combustion research) from the University of Delaware, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Juniata College. He is the author of Toxic Organic Chemicals: Destruction and Waste Treatment. Dr. Hackman’s experience includes PCBs waste treatment process evaluation; air pollution control system design; ISO 9000 quality systems development; and chemical plant start-up, safety, and operating instructions preparation. His hazardous materials experience includes work with propellants, explosives, biological and chemical agents, cryogenics, acids and acid gases, cyanides, and VOCs. Dr. Hackman has also led over 250 sessions of a popular corporate, in-house, continuing education program (Air Products University); and numerous seminars on the selection of processes for hazardous waste treatment. MATTHEW E. HACKMAN is a Professional Engineer in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Texas. He is also Certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Mr. Hackman received his B. S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, an M. S. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton, and an MBA from Northeastern University. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (Senior Level) and past president of the New England ACHMM chapter. He has been responsible for the design and implementation of numerous remediation projects. Air and Wastewater permitting are a specialty. He is a Licensed Site Professional (LSP) in Massachusetts and a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) in Connecticut. Formerly the Technical Director for a Part B TSDF, he is currently the LSP for two multimillion dollar HUD Demonstration Disposition multifamily housing renovation and remediation projects in Boston, Massachusetts.
