Zida Wang
Zida Wang, Ph.D. works for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art as the Manager of Community Engagement and Outreach. He holds his Ph.D. in Museum Education and Visitor-Centered Curation from Florida State Univesity. Zida’s research focuses on participatory action research and creating inclusive, hybrid museum experiences. He has led transformative initiatives, including co-curation projects and community-driven exhibitions that connect diverse audiences to the socially engaged arts. His expertise is further evidenced through his significant roles in co-creating "The Art of Bonding" and "Apart/Together" at the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts, where he discovered digital and onsite elements, and developed the digital exhibitions for these two exhibits.Zida’s chapter in Dimensions of Curation, titled "Using Traditional Practice to Review the Chinese National Art Exhibition," offers a critical analysis of Chinese art practices within the context of national exhibitions that contain many virtual exhibition aspects. Meanwhile, he co-edited the "13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts Experimental Arts Catalog," which provided a comprehensive overview of contemporary experimental art in China and included emerging digital exhibition components. In The International Journal of the Inclusive Museum, Zida explores community collaborations in university art museums, discussing the application of Third Place Theory in his article "Applying Third Place Theory in a University Art Museum’s Community Collaborations: Successes and Challenges Through Practices." which contains virtual exhibition and participation as well.
