She attended Cornell University and then completed a master's in food studies at New York University. he was the founding cook editor at a food and travel website and wrote a weekly one-pot recipe column for Serious Eats for two and a half years. During that time, she also spent four years as a luxury hotel and fine dining restaurant inspector for Forbes Travel Guide, traveling the world in the process.
