Paul, ex Dean, College of Agriculture, CSKHPKV, Palampur (HP) started his career after completing his Ph.D. from IARI, New Delhi in 1981 as Assistant Microbiologist and in 1985; he joined the Department of Plant Pathology at College of Agriclture, Solan as Assistant Professor (Plant Pathology). He worked on fungal taxonomy and seed pathology during this period. In 1988, he was elevated to the post of Associate Professor and in 1998 as Professor at CSKHP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur. He taught various UG and PG courses besides working on various research projects in the fields of fungal taxonomy, seed borne diseases, biological control and organic farming. He served the university in various positions as Head of Department, Students Welfare Officer, Director, Extension Education and finally retired as Dean, College of Agriculture, in2014. He served the Institute of Agricultural Research, Addis Abeba(Ethiopia) at Sinana and Adet research centers as an ITEC expert for a period of 3 years (1990-93). He is the founder President of 'Organic Agricultural Society of India' and founder Head 'Department of Organic Agriculture', CSKHPKV, Palampur. He has organized and participated in various National and International meetings, Conferences, Symposia, Workshops etc. and chaired a number of sessions. He is life member of various plant pathological, seed science and organic agricultural societies. He was awarded certificate of recognition by IAR, Addis Abeba for his distinguished services. He has written and edited more than twenty text books and manuals and guided a number of students for their Master's and Doctoral degrees. He has published more than 120 research papers in various national and international journals and is a member of several editorial boards.
