Winnfred SmithWinnfred got his writing interest in Mississippi, where he met many authors as newsletter editor for the Mississippi Writers Association (MWA). He was born in Griffin, Georgia, where in the tenth grade he took a typing class. He was one of two boys aong twenty girl students. Ponder that influence. The first story he wrote was a short story. While in Mississippi, Winnfred woke up one morning at two o'clock and wrote a short about his grandmother. It's titled Angel in the House and appears in his first short-story book, Southern Shorts. Except for a little grammar, there were no other changes to that early-morning family story.
