Legislature, and from 1989 to 2013, a writer and communications manager at an international public health organization. He grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, ent to Duke University, was a Peace Corps volunteer in India, and completed a Masters in Social Work in 2002 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
