Walter Spires"Failure humbles. Success puffs up. Having experienced both, I know firsthand each one can lead men into desperate places in life. Men want answers. God has them!" So says author and teacher, Walter Spires. "Walter has a passion for encouraging and euipping men", said Glenn Cranfield, CEO of the Nashville Rescue Mission, one of several organizations in which Walter has ministered to men over the last three decades. After relocating his family to the Nashville area in 2002, Walter began to focus more time and attention on writing and teaching biblically-based lessons to equip and encourage men from all walks of life prisoners, addicts, homeless, executives, business owners, physicians, and even pastors. That laid the foundation for what became a national email ministry to men around the country. It also served as the catalyst for the formation of Desperate Men, the "menistry". In 2014, God gave Walter a vision to expand this platform through the development of a website, additional speaking and teaching outlets, and social media formats to reach and teach millions of desperate men around the world. Prior to turning his focus to menistry, Walter spent more than thirty years in the healthcare industry. He was blessed to be part of leadership teams for several medical device and healthcare delivery companies. He also used his entrepreneurial skills to launch several healthcare startup ventures. Walter's first book, Power Tools - Build People Who Succeed in Life, was launched during a season in which he wrote and delivered programs on motivation, leadership, and building high performance people/organizations. Audiences included corporate, association, sales, and management meetings as well as ministry and church conferences and events. Walter and his wife, Gigi, have been married 33 years and have three grown children, two of whom are married. They reside in the Franklin, TN area.
